The purpose of the application SMS Time (Free and Pro version) is to reveal the sending time of SMS text messages that is usually not shown in standard SMS applications. For this objective the application needs access to SMS messages. The applicatios also optionally requires access to the user'r contacts for an easy identification of messages and for the user's convenience.
Permissions for older devices (Android 5.0-Lollipop and older)
On older phones (Android 5.0-Lollipop and older) the permissions to read SMS and contacts are requested at the installation time. If the user denies the permissions the application is not installed.
Permissions for newer devices (Android 6.0-Marshmallow and newer)
On newer devices (Android 6.0-Marshmallow and newer) the permissions are requested at run time. The application is installed even if the user denies the permissions but does not function properly. If the user denies the permission to read SMS messages, no messages are displayed. If the user denies the permission to read contacts, the messages and their times are displayed, but the name of the sender is not shown.
Handling of SMS and contacts
Both the SMS messages and the contacts are only displayed by the application on the device. The information is not stored anywhere and it is not transferred to other applications or outside of the user's device.
